Volunteer in Romania with Projects Abroad and get the chance to live and work in Transylvania while supporting local communities. You’ll stay with a local host family, giving you firsthand insight into the culture, and plenty of delicious home-cooked food.
You can help archaeologists protect cultural heritages at excavation sites, support early childhood development at a kindergarten, or improve your writing skills at a magazine. There are several options to choose from, so you’re bound to find a project that matches your interests.
When you’re not working, explore Romania and experience life in Transylvania. Visit grand palaces in Brasov, or follow a trail of ancient myths and stories by visiting Dracula’s Castle. Throughout your experience of doing volunteer work in Romania, Projects Abroad staff will be there to provide 24/7 support if you need it.

Where we are based in Romania
Brasov
Our Romania volunteer opportunities and the Projects Abroad Romania offices are based in Brasov.
Located in central Romania, this historic town is surrounded by lush greenery, and the rolling hills and peaks of the Carpathian Mountains. Home to spectacular gothic and medieval architecture and historical sites, Brasov is also located near a ski resort and several castles.
Make the most of living with a local host family, share traditions and stories, and we encourage you to try some of the delicious traditional food they cook. Eat foods like sarmale (meat, rice, and herbs wrapped in cabbage) and plăcinte cu brânză dulce (fried dough filled with sweet cheese and sprinkled with powdered sugar).
If you're doing our Archaeology Project, you'll be based in Alba Lulia, not Brasov.
